I always get suspicious when in the reviews there is a rider from the author telling readers not to criticise "The plot" or the religious connotations ... but despite my better judgement, I proceeded to part ways with my hard-earned readies and buy the book. Mmmmm..... what can I say? Well, for a start, I never believe in flaming authors for the sake of it. I have read well-over 1,000 Sci-Fi books and reviewed over 150, but I can safely say that this book ranks amongst my least favourite. Why? I mean, its got a great cover ... heh. Basically, if you want bubblegum for the brain, then fire away. You won't be disappointed. Exciting plot? Yes. Intriguing characters? Mostly. Fast paced - definitely. Actual believable plot? No. Consistent plot? No. Incredibly fortunate turn of events to get out of a plot hole due o careless writing? Oh yes ... many! It gets to a stage where the plot, such as convoluted as it is, starts to evolve in ways which seem entirely sue to the authors inability to actually PLAN anything. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm from Dublin and actually went to the same school as James Joyce (Google him in you don't know of him) and I'm a fan of the unfettered conscious stream as anyone ... hint ... read Ulysees - if you can!!. But this book is simply very, very poorly written, and it catches up badly about half way in, which is a shame, as it did show some merit up until that point.Anyway, as usual, some people may love it, some will think it OK but many, like me, will loath it. What disappoints me more than anything is that the basic premise and the beginning held such high hopes for the novel, but ultimately the poor writing, fantastical plotting and lack of character development let it down for me. I welcome your thoughts.

EARTH'S LAST WAR 2287 AD eBook Renee Van Dyke Claudio Aboy Cafe House Reviews
I have mixed feelings about this one. Yes, it has sex scenes, big deal. It started out well, then kind of got boring, then picked up again. The writing is variable as well, one moment being written quite well, the next moment it's not. Perhaps that's the effect of having two authors. Sometimes, I would find the story line dwelling on a particular thing or revisiting it 2 or 3 times, and then suddenly, something that's complex or could obviously be expounded upon is almost glossed over. I decided to read it because it was offered as a free download (got the Martian that way about 3 years ago and now look at it!), but I almost quit reading this twice, but stuck it out. In the end, it wound up surprising me with a much larger and overarching plot than I thought it would have. Overall - meh.
Post-Apocalyptic novels are easily my favorite genre of books. I've read a lot of them too, but this one definitely ranks as one of my favorites. For one, I love the lengthiness of it especially since it was very fast paced and intriguing. I also really loved the believability of it and as I read the book, I could see this actually taking place in the future. There's only so many zombie apocalypse books I can read without it being overdone, so I really enjoyed the more sci-fi take on this book rather than a supernatural take. Couldn't recommend this more!
I finished reading this book and promised a fair and straight review.
I found this book entertaining, challenging, risque, and exactly what an adult scifi/fantasy novel should be.
Challenging the status quo.
Though the story arc was well thought out there seemed to be quite a bit of repetition to some of the ongoing action scenes.
Ash and destroying her ships seemed to be a regular theme.
Ash and Steven with sexual angst. It was a given since the story developed that they were indeed meant to be a matched set, but still felt a bit forced.
I would have taken the story further and explained that men an women of humanity, regardless of religious background or beliefs, were having to breed like rabbits to save what was left of our race. With just six thousand? I'd say it would be better to have all the younger women pumping out as many healthy babies as possible. But it wasn't my story and these authors did a good job of telling it.
Did the story need more development and smoother flow? Yes.
Did it surprise me? A few times.
Was it predictable? Very much so, but in a good way.
Incredible and unbelievable? Well, that depends if you allow the story to tell itself or want the reader to assume the story.
Overall a very decent read for $.99, thank you very much!
I know...everyone is a critic...So knowing that I hope that you will take these words as just something from an avid reader describing what he would like to see more of. The story line is intriguing if not enveloping. I feel you two have put a story line together, full of interesting turns and fascinating ideas, but then rushed through it. There are several areas where you have built a great level of suspense and possibilities, but then you resolve the situation in a page, when you could have taken a chapter. In all my years, one thing I have grown to truly love is anticipation! I guess I am an old man... and not raised on instant gratification ( so that may be where this comes from). So, yes I am saying you probable could have made two books from just this one, and metaphorically "grabbed the readers by the balls"!!. Maintaining the suspense for just a bit longer. (for what it is worth). One other thing...with all the powers you bestowed on Ash and Steven, It was a little implausible that Enlil was able to deceive Ash in the end. Someones Mental fingerprint, surely cannot be replicated. But there again, with a little more detail and debpth you could have made that entirely believable. But overall, I thank you both for the entertainment, did turn the pages looking forward to seeing whata was going to happen next. Thank you! BTW... I am looking forward to the next installment... but I cannot find the link to get an advanced copy. Thanks again for the fantasy
