This is beautifully executed novel written in this series by Ms Kaye. I have no words to sufficiently express the praise I have for this book and the author. Reading a book a day, I find much I have read mediocre by comparison. The research and imagination used here is boundless and very interesting. The romance is pure and sweet. The characters are well defined and described. The adventure is endless and exhilarating. I'm more than excited to recommend this series, this novel, with the highest praise. I've read the entire series, thus far, anxiously awaiting each new book....needless to say, I anxiously await the next on this series.I cried several times while reading this one....real tears streaming down my face as I read ...... and I am no crier! This exceptional writing talent here is exhibited time and time again. I loved the description of the Comte Loudec as he initially expresses his interest in a potential betrothal contract on bent knee. I read the account to several people as an exampke of good writing...funny.....made us all laugh as I read aloud. It is gold!
I kept checking Amazon to see when this fourth installment would be published and downloaded it as soon as it was available.
The story is rich in history and done so well I couldn't put any of the four installments, so far, down. I beg you, Ms Kaye, do not keep us waiting too long for the next installment....I need to know what is going to happen next.

Enjoyed the series of 4 books, however, the editing and proofreading have left must to be desired. There are many typographical errors as well as extra words which appear to be residual after editing. These caused frequent rereading and confusion of the meaning.
Enjoyable to the end. Left hanging as to what will happen to each family. Murder, betrayal, love, mixed race and so on. Will there be a next installment?
The rating was chosen because of the superb writing style of the author. I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet and intriguing storyline and have already recommended it to my best friend. The only frustrating factor is, how long do I have to wait for book 5?
In the fourth installment of the Passion and Glory Series, Samantha Kaye takes us on another beautifully written journey of love, loss and war.
The characters that we came to know and love in the last three novels are now in France and the world has changed drastically since the Monterraud's have been in St. Domingue. Serolene mourns the loss of her true love, lost at sea, and enters a nunnery. The story unfolds with gorgeous narrative, clever dialogue, and gasp-worthy twists in this wonderful novel of France in the 1780's.
Kaye is a strong force in historical fiction and if you aren't turning pages to race to the romance or sexy scenes, you'll find a wonderfully crafted story that will stay with you long after you close the book. I've said it before in my previous reviews of this series but this is not standard historical romance where facts are sketchy and the amorous parts are in every chapter. This is old time romance, where you are teased with distance and conflict and the reward is so sweet you want to cry.
Don't miss this series if you are a lover of history, France, great writing, and staying up late at night to see what happens next!
